The following is a Falmouth Police Department media statement: “On Wednesday, June 18th, 2025, at approximately 8:00 PM, the Falmouth Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing on Rose Morin Lane. Upon arrival, officers encountered an active disturbance and received multiple conflicting accounts regarding the incident. Officers were soon advised that the victim may have fled into a wooded area nearby. After a brief search, officers located the victim, who was suffering from significant wounds to the chest and arm. Officers rendered aid until Falmouth Fire and Rescue personnel arrived and assumed medical care. The victim was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford and is currently listed in stable condition. The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Identification responded to process the crime scene. K9 units from both the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office and the Mashpee Police Department assisted in the search for the suspect. The suspect, identified as John Wells, 56, of Falmouth, was located at a residence on Homestead Lane and taken into custody. Wells was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. He was held without bail and transported to the Barnstable County Correctional Complex.” NOTE: All suspects are presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
