BARNSTABLE, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN VIDEO NOTES] –  As you will see and hear in the following HN video, Maxwell Dean, 21, of Yarmouth Port was arraigned in Barnstable District Court today, accused of fleeing the scene after striking two women with his pickup truck in the parking lot outside of the Tiki Port restaurant in Hyannis Sunday morning. Dean was arraigned on multiple criminal charges, including two major felonies. Dean’s bail was revoked and is currently being held based on him allegedly violating the terms of his release on other criminal charges, about two months ago. Dean’s new charges in the “Tiki Port parking lot matter” are listed as follows:
  1. Felony Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (a Motor Vehicle)
  2. Felony Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (a Motor Vehicle) resulting in Serious Bodily Injury
  3. Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License
  4. Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle (Misdemeanor)
  5. Unregistered Motor Vehicle (Violation)
  6. Leaving the Scene of a motor vehicle crash with Personal Injury (Misdemeanor)
  7. Number Plate Violation to Conceal Identification (Misdemeanor)
  8. Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle (Misdemeanor)
  9. MV Lights Violation
The following HN Video highlights today’s arraignment.  It also includes an interview with Kelly Ennes, the mother of Kelsey Lima.  Kelsey Lima is one of the two females injured in Sunday morning’s vehicle vs. pedestrian crash.  Kelsey was immediately airlifted to a Rhode Island trauma center following the crash.  Kelsey suffered severe trauma, including broken facial bones and a collapsed lung.  She remains hospitalized in Rhode Island and is said to have a long road to recovery (a matter of months).  She will be out of work and her friends are working on a fundraiser.  HN will share the fundraiser when it becomes available. The defendant, Maxwell Dean, maintains that both he and his sister were fleeing the area after having been beat up prior to striking the women… and that it was not intentional.  Dean is expected back in court tomorrow as the court considers his bail on the latest charges, despite already being revoked for allegedly violating the release terms on previous charges.  HN is currently reviewing numerous police reports and witness statements and will hopefully have time to release more details in the days to come.  [DEVELOPING] Please note that the defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law [HN VIDEO  –  PRESS PLAY] P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is brought to you by Buckwheat Zydeco…  [CLICK IT/CRANK IT!
