HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – [VIDEO NOTES] – A Hyannis News reader send in video and photos of man being arrested on Lincoln Road early Tuesday morning – February 11, 2025. In the following video, HN put Barnstable Police radio transmissions with the reader video and photos. A Barnstable Police source confirms that the individual arrested on Lincoln Road this morning was charged with 2nd Offense Operating Under the Influence of Liquor after allegedly fleeing the scene of a single vehicle crash. According to a police report filed in Barnstable District Court, Patrolman Jonathan Moore of the Barnstable Police Department was dispatched to the intersection of Route 28 and Lincoln Road for a single-vehicle crash into the woods. While en route, another BPD officer advised Patrolman Moore that the driver had left the scene by possibly riding away in another vehicle. Barnstable Police Patrolman Murray then radioed that he was conducting a traffic stop of a vehicle on Lincoln Road. Meanwhile, at the crash scene, Patrolman Moore reported observing a black Ford Fusion crashed between trees and shrubs along the side of Route 28. The vehicle was still running and unoccupied. The alleged driver of the crashed vehicle was eventually taken into custody after a resident on Lincoln Road reportedly observed him trying to climb over a fence in his backyard. The resident confronted the suspect and physically restrained him from climbing over the fence. The resident had reportedly been worried that the suspect would be attacked by the neighbor’s dogs. When Patrolman Murray arrived in the backyard, the suspect reportedly refused to let go of the fence. Patrolman Murray was able to gain custody of the suspect, detaining him in handcuffs and walking him back toward the street. According to Patrolman Moore’s report, the suspect was unsteady on his feet and appeared “disoriented with a blank look on his face.” Hyannis FD arrived and evaluated the suspect, clearing him with no reported injury. The vehicle needed to be winched out from the trees and shrubs.  It was an area maintained and owned by the Town of Barnstable. A member of the Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded to photograph the damage to town property. The suspect reportedly did not know which street he was on after allegedly admitting to officers that he had a couple shots of alcohol earlier. Upon reportedly failing field sobriety tests, Stephen Mann, 34, of Hyannis, was charged with 2nd Offense Operating Under the Influence of Liquor, Leaving the Scene of a crash with Property Damage, and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle. According to Patrolman Moore’s report, a witness said she had pulled over after the crash to see if the driver was okay. The witness told Patrolman Moore that the driver had “glassy” eyes, pale skin, and a “blank look” on his face. The driver then reportedly “fell multiple times as he then proceeded to flee the scene [of] the accident.” The following HN Video contains reader cellphone video, along with Barnstable Police radio transmissions… [HN VIDEO – PRESS PLAY] P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is a brought to you by Lynyrd Skynyrd…  [CLICK IT/CRANK IT!
