SANDWICH SUBWAY BATHROOM FIRE

  SANDWICH FD MEDIA STATEMENT: SANDWICH, MASSACHUSETTS — On January 27, 2025 at 7:33 pm, the Sandwich Fire Department responded to a report of a bathroom fire at Subway Restaurant, 280 Route 130. On arrival crews found a small fire in the ceiling of a bathroom fan with possible extension into the attic. A working fire assignment was requested bringing additional resources from Joint Base Fire Department on a line response and resources from Mashpee Fire to the scene. Sandwich Firefighters extinguished the fire within 10 minutes and checked for extension into the attic which was negative. There was a moderate smoke condition in Subway and neighboring establishments were temporarily evacuated while the smoke was completely removed from Subway. A total of 18 firefighters responded to the scene. The Bourne, Cotuit and Barnstable Fire Departments provided station coverage during the incident. There we no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Sandwich Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit.
