Massachusetts State Police Media Statement – January 2025: Shortly before midnight on Friday, State Police received reports of a wrong way driver on Route 3 south in Plymouth. A Trooper on patrol advised his Command of a single-car crash at mile marker 9.2 that appeared to be related. All southbound lanes closed in the aftermath of the crash. MassDOT officials and State Police members assigned to the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the Crime Scene Services Section responded to the scene. Plymouth Police provided invaluable assistance in closing Route 3 and diverting traffic until the road reopened at approximately 3:30 a.m. Saturday. The operator and sole occupant of the wrong way vehicle sustained serious injuries. Officials transported them to a Boston hospital where they were pronounced dead. Their identity is being withheld at this time until appropriate notifications can be made. We offer our condolences to their family and loved ones. The matter remains under investigation by the State Police. ###
