WEST BARNSTABLE, MASSACHUSESTTS –  The single vehicle crash initially came in as a possible hit-and-run with injuries, according to radio transmissions.  At around 4:18 a.m. this morning, state police and West Barnstable firefighters responded to Route 6 eastbound near 64.2 mile marker after a Subaru SUV went over a guardrail before crashing down a steep hill.  The SUV landed on its roof at the bottom of a small ravine, hidden away inside the highway’s tree-lined median.  The two female occupants managed to climb back up to the westbound side of the highway, where they were eventually located by firefighters and troopers.  One women was up and walking, speaking with troopers when HN arrived on scene.  Another woman was on the ground, suffering what were described as “priority two” injuries.  Medflight helicopters were not flying due to weather conditions.  (As you’ll see, it was very foggy on scene due to the recent warmer temps.)  The injured woman was eventually transported to Cape Cape Hospital under a trauma alert.  Troopers were still on scene waiting for heavy duty equipment needed to remove the vehicle.  The crash is being investigated by the Massachusetts State Police.  No further details were available at the time of this report.  The following HN Video contains additional information and footage from the scene…  [HN VIDEO –  PRESS PLAY]
