BARNSTABLE, MASSACHUSETTS –  According to the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office, Kenneth Chisholm, age 34 in April of 2022, of Mashpee was convicted in Superior Court last month for a brutal downtown Hyannis stabbing that happened in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 2, 2022 (see following HN Crime Scene/Arrest Video). The Commonwealth requested a 7 to 9 year sentence and the court imposed a 4 to 5 year sentence, according to the District Attorney’s office. According to an earlier Hyannis News report, on April 2, 2022 at approximately 1:00 am Barnstable Police received a 911 call regarding a stabbing in the area of Old Colony Road and Main Street in Hyannis. Upon arrival, Barnstable Police patrol officers observed a group of three individuals standing over a male subject laying on the ground suffering from apparent stab wounds. Hyannis Fire and Rescue arrived and transported the victim to Cape Cod Hospital. He was later Medflighted to Boston Medical Center where he was treated for critical injuries. As you will see in the following HN Video from the morning of the stabbing, a number of arrests were made, leading to two individuals being officially charged for their alleged connection to the stabbing. Chisholm was initially charged with one count of Armed Assault to Murder. A second man from Hyannis was charged with allegedly being an Accessory after the Fact. The victim reportedly suffered a life-threatening punctured lung. State Police detectives assigned to the DA’s office assisted the Barnstable Police Department with the investigation. In a recent Cape Cod Times report, on November 8, 2024, a jury found Chisholm not guilty on the Armed Assault to Murder charge. The same jury, however, found Chisholm guilty of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. “Judge Mark Gildea sentenced Chisholm to at least four years and up to five years at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Lancaster. He received credit for 136 days already spent in custody,” the Cape Cod Times report reads. We appreciate both the victim’s courage to step forward and the investigation conducted by the Barnstable Police Department” The following HN Video from the morning of April 2, 2022, highlights a wild stabbing scene that almost claimed the life of a 28-year-old man from Yarmouth.
