Loving Cape Cod

“A man may stand there and put all of America behind him.” – Henry David Thoreau   Sandy beaches, quaint towns, lighthouses and charming homes dot the Cape Cod Peninsula. We stayed on the Outer Cape in Provincetown. What a friendly and welcoming town!       It was so fun to explore Commercial Street in Provincetown, Massachusetts       We enjoyed the challenging walk across the one mile Provincetown Causeway, a huge rock jetty jutting out into the harbor. You can cross the causeway during low tide, and explore miles of secluded beaches, marshes and the Wood End Lighthouse. It gives you a new perspective of the remoteness of the area.           We camped on the tip of the Cape in Provincetown. Here is a view of the sun setting from inside our camper.           Coastal Acres Campground, Providence, Massachusetts       We rode our bikes on the beautiful Shining Sea Bikeway through the Dunes along Cape Cod Canal.     Race Point Lighthouse, first built in 1808, was one of the first revolving lights that helped ships avoid the treacherous rocky coast. It is still an active lighthouse, maintained by the Coast Guard. What a beautiful old building. This library has several unique features, including a huge model of a ship right inside the stacks.                     The Provincetown Library also featured a “Library of Things” such as appliances you can borrow. It also has a seed library and a crop library with fresh vegetables. Amazing!                 The beauty of Cape Cod, and Provincetown, ranks right up there with our favorite stops.
