HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN VIDEO NOTES] – The following HN Video covers a DEVELOPING caper the played out over the span of several hours last evening, from late Friday into early Saturday morning. As you will see and hear, a number of Barnstable Police patrol cars responded to the sidewalk outside of the Flashback Retro Arcade on Main Street for reports of a shirtless adult male with “blood gushing from his head.” He was also said to be armed with a knife and threatening others. Responding officers were informed about a second man involved in the disturbance who had allegedly brandished (and possibly racked) a handgun in order to intimidate others on scene. Police quickly were able to locate and detain the shirtless male as the investigation continued… At the scene outside of the Flashback Retro Arcade, patrons had been simply trying to have a fun and relaxing evening, but were subjected to a violent disturbance instead. The shirtless male had reportedly been involved in a fight and was injured, according to patrons. The shirtless male then reportedly left the scene, returning “with his homies” a short time later. The shirtless male then reportedly became belligerent with a number of male and female Flashback patrons, according to witnesses. One of the “homies” who returned with the shirtless male was witnessed to be brandishing a handgun. Police also discovered video evidence that apparently corroborates witness accounts. The male who allegedly brandished the firearm fled the area, but police learned he was likely inside a residence 22 School Street. At one point – as you will see and hear in the HN Video – a detective witnessed two people leave the residence on School Street in a car. Officers quickly swarmed the area and a high risk “felony” traffic stop was conducted on Main Street near the Yarmouth town line. Yarmouth Police patrol cars also responded to assist with blocking off the area during the high risk stop. Occupants of the vehicle were detained and questioned, but the suspect had not been one of the occupants inside the vehicle. The HN Video then shows a SWAT team assembling in a parking lot at the intersection of School Street and South Street, while a number of patrol units set up a perimeter in the general area of the target house. The SWAT operation involved drone surveillance and armored vehicles. SWAT members moved in on 22 School Street at around 1:30 a.m. It sounded like “flashbangs” were deployed prior to making contact with occupants inside the residence. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to BPD Headquarters. At least one female was removed from the residence and could be seen speaking with investigators. A member of the Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded to document evidence. A Hyannis FD ambulance was on standby throughout the entire operation but there were no known injuries at the time of this report. The entire investigation is active and ongoing… This is developing story and HN is working on getting official details. And HN will provide updates as soon as more details are released. The following HN Video is lengthy, covering a span of several hours as the entire caper unfolded. The video contains HN footage and Barnstable Police radio transmissions. * The initial details contained in the above report are based on police radio transmissions and information on scene. Defendants are presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
