[WELLFLEET FD MEDIA STATEMENT] “On August 31, Wellfleet Fire was dispatched to a possible drowning at Dyer Pond. An off-duty Firefighter/AEMT from Kennebunk Fire-Rescue, pulled the individual from the water and initiated CPR. On the ambulance’s arrival the rescued swimmer had a pulse and was counsious. His lifesaving actions and CPR led to a positive outcome in a otherwise dire situation.” [KENNEBUNK FIRE-RESCUE MEDIA STATEMENT] “David Tapley was vacationing with family when he recognized that a civilian was drowning.  Wellfleet Fire Department was responding for this emergency.  FF/AEMT Tapley initiated the water rescue and removed the victim to shore.  FF/AEMT Tapley then immediately recognized the victim was pulseless and apneic and initiated CPR.  Upon the arrival of Wellfleet Fire Department the patient had a pulse and was breathing on their own.  FF/AEMT Tapley assisted extricating the patient to their ambulance.  The patient is expected to make a full recovery with no neural deficits.”
