HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN PHOTO NOTES] –  At around 1:35 p.m. today – Friday, 8/9/2024 – a Barnstable Police detective pulled over a vehicle on Mitchells Way, near the intersection with Pitchers Way. A BPD patrol unit was also on scene to assist. The occupant of the vehicle had a warrant for his arrest for “Failure to Register.” Chad W. Hamblin, 40, currently listed as living and working out of the same Hyannis address (see following image), is a convicted Level 2 Sex Offender.   According to the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry website, Level 2 sex offenders are at risk of reoffending and could be a danger to the public.  According to a source, the warrant was for failure to register as a sex offender… but additional details were unavailable at the time of this report. On December 16, 2014, Hamblin was convicted of Indecent Assault & Battery on a Child Under 14 Years of Age. According to online sources, the indecent assault and battery on a child was reportedly committed in Mashpee. According to a December 2014 article in the Mashpee Enterprise: “During a bench trial at the Falmouth District Court on Wednesday, December 17, he was found guilty and was sentenced to two years and six months at Barnstable County Correctional Facility with one year to serve and a suspended sentence for five years. During those five years, he has been ordered to have no contact with the victim and has also been ordered to register as a sex offender and to wear a GPS bracelet upon his release from prison.” Hamblin was arrested during today’s traffic stop and transported back to BPD Headquarters for booking. From BPD lockup, Hamblin is expected to be taken in custody to Barnstable District Court. If processing goes smoothly, Hamblin could find himself in front of a Barnstable County judge as early as this afternoon – Friday, 8/9/2024. Above HN Photos:  A BPD patrolman is seen placing Hamblin’s belongings in an evidence bag. The photo insert of Hamblin is from the Sex Offender Registry Board website/HN edits. It’s unknown whether Hamblin racked up additional charges during today’s stop. No further information available at the time of this HN report…   From the Sexual Offender Registry Board’s website: The individual who appears on the [above] profile has been finally classified as a Level 2 or Level 3  sex offender by the Sex Offender Registry Board. The Board has determined that this individual has a moderate or high risk to reoffend and that the degree of dangerousness posed to the public is such that public safety interest is served by public availability of registration information. M.G.L. c. 6, §§ 178C-178Q .
  • The Level 2 sex offenders who appear on this website were finally classified by the Board  after  July 12, 2013. For information regarding Level 2 sex offenders finally classified by the Board  before  July 12, 2013, please contact your  local police  department.
