HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – [DEVELOPING] – As you’ll see in the following HN Video, shortly prior 2:00 a.m. this morning, Barnstable Police and Hyannis Firefighters rushed to North Street near the intersection with Winter Street for a badly injured man who reported being hit on the head with a hammer. The man suffered trauma to the head, which included a laceration. He may have also suffered other injuries during the attack. He told police the suspect was possibly a black male riding a bicycle. In the following HN Video, police and EMTs can be heard asking the man, “What happened?” and “Why did they hit you with a hammer?” Barnstable PD patrol officers searched the area and spoke with possible suspects while the victim was being treated at Cape Cod Hospital.  The victim’s current condition is unknown at the time of this report.  The investigation is active and ongoing.
