HN is reviewing the Barnstable PD dispatch call audio from this past weekend since I was off duty most of Saturday and Sunday. The following audio is from Saturday morning, 7/6//24, starting at around 7:30 a.m. and ending in the early afternoon. The audio is just dispatch highlights and does not go into details, but it struck me as a particularly busy morning with an unusual number of breaking & enterings into motor vehicles across town. These are just some of the highlights. Other, less interesting calls were weeded out. (If time, HN will be reviewing other, more violent calls from this past weekend, including another “slashing” knife assault and a standoff…) Also, the following is a BPD statement regarding the recent breaks: “The Barnstable Police Department is investigating several motor vehicle break ins that occurred over the past few nights in Centerville and Hyannis. If you are a victim and have not reported it yet or if you have any video from your residents in the late night or early morning hours the past few days that you feel may assist officers in identifying the suspect(s), please call 508-778-3874. [Residents] are also reminded that if you find that your vehicle has been broken into, please call the police department immediately and do not touch the vehicle or anything inside to help preserve any fingerprints or evidence that the suspect(s) may have left behind. We are recommending everyone start partaking in the “9PM Routine”, where you check to make sure your valuables are in from your vehicle, your vehicle is locked, your house is locked, and you have an outside light on.” [HN VIDEO/AUDIO – PRESS PLAY]
