HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN VIDEO NOTES] –  As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, around midnight last evening, Barnstable Police squad cars scrambled toward The Vape Way smoke shop at 11 Enterprise Road for a burglary in progress. Two individuals had just smashed the glass front door and were being watched on surveillance cameras as they entered the business. The two suspects had managed to flee the area just moments before cops arrived, one on a bicycle, the other on a scooter. About 10 minutes into the investigation, a patrolman searching the nearby area of Independence Drive radioed he was attempting to stop two males fitting the description of their burglary suspects. A number of officers quickly responded to the intersection of Independence Drive and Communication Way to assist. The suspects turned out to be two 13-year-old males. A search of their backpacks appears to have uncovered a mini-sledge hammer, along with apparent smoke shop merchandise. Both of the boys’ mothers responded to the scene where officers were investigating their sons.  Officers informed the mothers about the situation. The moms were not happy with their sons. One mother appeared extremely frustrated as her son began mouthing off at her. Both mothers left their sons in the hands of police. Both of the 13-year-old boys were arrested and transported back to Barnstable Police Headquarters for booking. Breaking and Entering, along with Receiving Stolen Property, are just two of the possible charges. The following HN Video highlights the crime scene, investigation, and arrests. The video contains HN footage and BPD radio transmissions… [HN VIDEO – PRESS PLAY] P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is a brought to you by Patrick O’Hearn…  [CLICK IT/CRANK IT! The defendants are presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
