WEST YARMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS –  [HN PHOTO NOTES]  –  Two men were banged-up after the Hyundai Santa Fe they were riding in suddenly slammed into a tree early this morning (Wednesday, June 19, 2024).  Yarmouth police and firefighters rushed to the area of 132 West Yarmouth Road at around 2:25 a.m. for a report of a single vehicle crash into a tree.  Neighbors were awakened by the crash and came out of their homes to help the injured men.  One man had a deep gash on his knee, with some of the bone visible.  Both men were conscious and alert… and eventually transported to Cape Cod Hospital.  Investigating police officers were unable to locate skid marks which means the vehicle likely struck the tree at full speed.  According to sources, the men, both new to the area, may have been trying to find their way to a nearby hotel.  The hotel they were trying to find was shown on one of the crash victim’s cellphone apps, according to sources.  The driver presented officers with an international driver’s license, and there was reportedly a language barrier to some degree.  The men reportedly said they were employed at a restaurant in Dennis.  It’s uncertain what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and go head-on into the tree.  The Yarmouth Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.  [DEVELOPING] P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is a brought to you by Kool & The Gang…  [CLICK IT/CRANK IT!]
