Good Samaritans probably prevented an elderly man from being run over in the fog early this morning. At around 4:00 a.m., Barnstable Police and Hyannis Rescue were dispatched to the intersection of Main Street and Pleasant Street for a partially clothed, confused man found down on the side of the roadway.  Good Samaritans had pulled over and positioned their pickup truck in front of the older gentleman in order to protect him from oncoming traffic. The man was barefoot and wearing a black t-shirt and wasn’t easily visible due to the conditions. When HN arrived on scene, the man was in the fetal position on the pavement, bleeding from the head. He knew his name and said he resides in the vicinity… and that he last remembers being in bed and dozing off. Rescue arrived and EMTs wrapped his head in bandages before transporting him to Cape Cod Hospital. He was confused, disoriented, and very vulnerable… and it’s a good thing several young men stopped to help him. (The BPD is investigating… )     In the following HN photos, Yarmouth Police had their hands full with an ongoing domestic disturbance in their town. This was the third time they had responded to the same residence last evening. Earlier, Yarmouth Rescue responded to evaluate a male for a bite wound. A woman was taken into custody. At the time of this photo, a number of officers responded for the third time after receiving reports of a mother arriving home and allegedly harassing the male bite victim. Officers were able to convince everyone to coexist peacefully for the remainder of evening… (and they had not needed to return as of the time of this report… 6 a.m.)     In the following HN photo, a Hyannis homeless individual sits unnoticed, trying to find rest on Winter Street…   … among all the other uneasy souls, bracing themselves against the relentless dampness and overnight gloom. P.S. – Today’s Hytown Vignette is a brought to you by Gil Evans…  [CLICK IT/CRANK IT! HEADPHONES ABSOLUTELY OBLIGATORY!]
