YARMOUTH, MASSACHUSETTS – [HN VIDEO NOTES] – HN cameras were rolling when a man opened the door of a random passing vehicle last evening. The driver was attempting to park and did not know the man attempting to enter his vehicle. It happened on camera and right in front of three police officers. As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, shortly before 11:00 p.m. last evening, a number of Yarmouth Police officers responded to the Wendy’s Restaurant on Old Town House Road for a man standing at the drive thru allegedly making violent threats toward the employees. Officers arrived and encountered Marcel Young, now approximately 46 years old, current address unknown, at the rear employee entrance to Wendy’s. Marcel Young has a history of resisting arrest and fighting with police officers. In 2019, an HN camera was rolling when Young resisted and fought with Barnstable Police officers in front of a Hyannis pizza parlor. CLICK HERE for HN story and video entitled, Suspect reportedly told officers “he was in the business of killing cops…” In speaking with Young last evening at Wendy’s, Yarmouth Police officers determined he did not make credible threats to rob the restaurant as initially reported… but he had reportedly been creating a disturbance and was told to leave the premises. Officers followed Young to make sure he left the Wendy’s property. But officers soon needed to make contact again with Young when he entered the fenced-in area of a neighboring business without permission. Officers remained patient as they urged Young to leave and stay away from the Wendy’s property. Young ignored officers and returned onto the Wendy’s property. At that moment, an uninvolved man drove into the Wendy’s parking lot and was about to park his vehicle. As you will see in the following HN Video, young approached the stranger’s car, opened the passenger-side door and tried to enter right in front of police officers. He was quickly taken into custody and officially charged with breaking and entering into a vehicle during the nighttime. The driver reportedly had no idea who Young was… In a similar call, Barnstable Police officers were dispatched to the area of West Main Street late one recent evening for reports of a man aggressively approaching vehicles in traffic. Barnstable Police officers spent time watching Young walk back and forth on West Main Street. HN was on scene and did not observe Young approaching vehicles at that time. Officers eventually made contact with Young and were apparently able to convince him to cooperate. Young quietly walked away from officers and appeared to enter a nearby apartment building, not returning outside. Officers remained in the area before eventually clearing the call without incident. But last evening’s encounter with police ended differently for Marcel Young. The following HN Video highlights Yarmouth Police arresting Marcel Young in the parking lot of Wendy’s.
