NORTH PLYMOUTH, Massachusetts – According to a Plymouth PD media statement, at approximately 1:47 a.m. this morning, officers responded to North Spooner Street for multiple homes struck by gunfire.
Inside one home, officers found a bullet lodged in the family room’s ceiling. It was determined the bullet had entered through wooden siding around a window.
A second home was struck by “multiple” bullets, with one bullet finding its way through a window into the home.
There reportedly had been “many occupants” inside these homes at the time of the gunfire, but fortunately none were injured.
According to Plymouth Police, there had been an argument that turned into a physical altercation outside a downtown bar. The fight was between 25-year-old Joshua Fitzgerald (see booking photo) and a person who lived at one of the homes shot up on North Spooner Street.
After the downtown bar fight, Fitzgerald is accused of driving to North Spooner Street and opening fire at the home where the other person lived.
The second residence struck reportedly had nothing to do with the initial downtown brawl.
When cops later located Fitzgerald on his front porch, he reportedly retreated inside his residence, exited into his backyard, and attempted to walk away while officers had him at gunpoint. As he was walking away, he reportedly dropped a pistol and finally decided to follow commands. Officers were then able to take him into custody without further incident.
Jushua Fitzgerald is being charged with four counts of Assault to Murder while Armed with a Firearm, seven counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Carry a Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building, Threats to Commit Murder, Destruction of Property Over $1200, Possession of a Class B Drug (Cocaine), and Disturbing the Peace.
Fitzgerald is being held on $10,000 bail and is currently at the Plymouth County Correctional Facility.
According to the Plymouth Police, they are grateful that no one was injured during this “extremely reckless and dangerous attack.” They also wanted to recognize and commend Officers Liam Stone, Eric Decelle, and Sergeant Thomas DeLaura for “their brave and professional response.”
