MAN ALLEGEDLY BACKED U-HAUL INTO POLICE CRUISER DURING TRAFFIC STOP [HN PHOTOS]

      HYANNIS, Massachusetts – [HN photo notes] – A man was arrested for motor vehicle, drug and dangerous weapon (knife) possession after allegedly backing into a Barnstable Police cruiser during a traffic stop on Center Street earlier this evening – Thursday, 3/7/2024. Shortly after 7:00 p.m., a patrolman was attempting to make a traffic stop near the intersection of Center Street and Barnstable Road, according to radio transmissions. The driver of a rented pickup truck finally stopped in front of Ying’s Sushi Bar & Lounge on Center Street. Once pulled over, the man driving the U-Haul allegedly backed into the stationary police cruiser. There wasn’t much damage, just minor dents, but a supervisor was called to investigate the cruiser crash. According to sources on scene, the driver did not have an active driver’s license. Further investigation led to the drug possession charge… No further details were available at the time of this report.
