HN NOTES & MULLINGS ON THE MATTER: According to an arrest report filed by Patrolman Eric Rogorzenski of the Barnstable Police Department, on the evening of Tuesday, December 12, 2023, he observed the suspect vehicle traveling east on Route 28 at a high rate of speed. At one point the vehicle reportedly crossed over the solid white fog line and accelerate to an estimated speed in excess of 100 miles per hour. There was a brief pursuit that was called off because of safety concerns… but the fleeing vehicle ended up crashing at the intersection of Pitchers Way and West Main Street in Hyannis. The operator, Jerome Trent, 48, of Mashpee, (a man with lengthy criminal history) was arrested and charged with Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Stop for Police, Marked Lanes Violation, Speeding, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Operating Under the Influence of Liquor. Trent reportedly stated several times that he was drunk, and that he took off from officers because he was drunk. Trent reportedly admitted that his friend was in the rear passenger seat during the crash, but that he did not know his name. According to the following YPD statement, this past Sunday, December 17, 2023, just 5 whole days after being accused of recklessly leading police on a pursuit in Barnstable, Mr. Trent found himself once again jammed up, this time with a police detective in Yarmouth. The following is the actual YPD statement: TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO ARREST FOR NARCOTICS POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE WEST YARMOUTH, Mass. – A Yarmouth Police Detective arrested a man with a lengthy criminal history Sunday night after the vehicle he was riding in was stopped for traffic violations. Shortly before 9:45 p.m. the detective observed a white pickup truck traveling in West Yarmouth completely cross the double yellow lines on Route 28. He attempted to stop the truck; however, it did not pull over and stop right away. Once stopped, the detective noticed the window tint was extremely dark. The occupants of the truck kept all the windows up, making it difficult to see inside. As the detective shined his flashlight into the truck, the back seat passenger began to move around in a way that looked as if he was trying to hide a weapon. The passenger, Jerome Trent, 48, of Mashpee, was removed from the truck and as a result of an investigation, was placed under arrest for Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute and Possession of Dextroamphetamine/Amphetamine, commonly known as Adderall, both Class B narcotics. Trent was arraigned Monday at Barnstable District Court.     The poor fella!
