HN NOTES:  Barnstable Police rushed to Main Street, Hyannis in front of the Barnstable Town Hall after a woman called saying she had been just attacked, early this morning, around 2:00 a.m. Hyannis Rescue also responded. The woman was bleeding from the mouth, telling everyone her teeth had just been knocked loose after being punched and kicked by a shirtless male who had already fled the scene. A male friend who tried to defend her was also struck in the face. The alleged attacker reportedly lives in the woods in the West Yarmouth area and is known to Barnstable Police for at least one other violent attack in recent weeks. Police are searching for the man who is now looking at additional felony charges for allegedly kicking the woman while “shod.” According to the victims, the man was described as being “crazy” and the attack was said to be unprovoked. The woman was evaluated by Hyannis Rescue but reluctant to be transport to the hospital because she was relied upon and expected to be at her job in the coming hours (God bless her). A patrolwoman gave the woman a ride to her residence across town. [DEVELOPING STORY] (These are simply photo notes and HN is actively looking into this ongoing investigation. It’s never okay for anyone to be violently attacked on our downtown streets… daytime, nighttime, early morning hours, or whenever. Feral, violently out-of-control individuals who harm others need to be removed from of our streets forthwith.  No exceptions or mitigating considerations.  The public’s safety should always come first, at all hours!  And especially during the hours between 1:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. when the town forces businesses to close to make their town jobs easier – an idiotic and poorly thought out move that only makes matters worse by taking the momentum out of the local economy and 24-hour workforce… while also hurting tourism and ultimately making things more inconvenient, dangerous and depressed for everyone in the long haul… in my humble view… being someone who certainly knows the nighttime ebb and flow of our town, and its need for a stronger, business friendly economy.  But I digress… Stay tuned for additional details and updates… and in the meantime, please be extra cautious and vigilant out there.)
