HYANNIS, Massachusetts –  A 29-year-old disabled man was transported to Cape Cod Hospital last evening, complaining of injuries from allegedly being slammed to the ground and choked. Police and EMTs responded to a residence on Otis Road shortly before 10:00 p.m., for a report of an assault and battery that had just occurred. The male suspect was said to be wearing a white t-shirt and black shorts while last seen running away from the domicile. Barnstable Police squad cars quickly saturated the area, with one patrolman immediately reporting he had just seen the suspect running away behind a restaurant on Barnstable Road, according to radio transmissions and sources on scene. Meanwhile, back on Otis Road, the alleged victim was being treated in the back of a Hyannis FD ambulance. The alleged victim was eventually transported to the emergency room with a possible back injury, along with wounds from the alleged strangulation. Officers set up a perimeter and conducted a K9 track of the immediate area but were unable to locate the suspect. An all-points police bulletin was put out to surrounding Cape departments to be on the lookout for Alfries Rodrigues, age 38. Rodrigues is wanted for two serious alleged crimes, Assault & Battery on a Disabled Person and Strangulation. Rodrigues is also reportedly wanted on two additional arrest warrants related to previous matters. One warrant for Breaking & Entering in the Nighttime and Larceny from a Building. A second warrant for Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, according to radio transmissions. The current condition of the alleged victim was unknown at the time of this report.
