That number would be up around a thousand families, or maybe a little more.The President's Utopian idea of loan modification just didn't hit the right note with the banks. So the banks, have told him to stick it where the sun don't shine. Banks have this scam going using the loan modification model to wring every last cent out of the homeowner before they send for the sheriff. It works like this: A crook, fronting for the bank, arrives at your door or calls you. He or she tells you that instead of foreclosing on your property, which is what you expected them to do, they will just let you stay put, pay a reduced mortgage fee and meanwhile, they will put their best mortgage people to work modifying your loan making it affordable for you. But then they're back, maybe a year later and they've got very bad news.

They ran all the numbers, but they just can't make it work. And hey, thanks for the partial mortgage payments. The housing market sucks and we wouldn't have been able to sell this house anyway, but every little bit helps. You'll have to go now though, we think we have a buyer.

This scam is going on everyday in America, and people are not going to jail for it. Junk bonds are sold to state pension funds guaranteed by investment houses and banks to be triple A bonds.But they are sludge. Will this be investigated, will someone go to jail for this fraud? Not as long as we have a president and Congress beholden to the banks for their campaign finance funds. To them, this isn't The United States of America; it's The Bank of America.

But it doesn't end there in this devious wasteland of corruption of all three government branches. Remember at the beginning of W's internationally embarrassing first term, when Halliburton Cheney sat down with some other criminals. one named Kenneth Lay and they formulated a new energy policy for the U.S.? One of the things they wrote into law was that Halliburton would be exempt from the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts and could not be sued under the previous Super Fund legislation.

This was great for Halliburton and for former Halliburton CEO Dick Cheney, who although his money and investments were in a blind trust while he was VP,was not blind to the reality that the deregulation of Halliburton would make him millions.

So Halliburton had this new technology for obtaining natural gas. To get it they pump literally hundreds of poisons in thousands of gallons into the shale bed beneath the surface of the land and if forces the gas upward. Upward to where the gas people can collect most of it. But not all of it. Some of it goes right up into the air where it is believed it has killed thousand of birds overhead who just happened to be flying by. Some of it goes into America's streams where millions of fish are killed almost instantly.

Some of it goes right into the wells and the groundwater for miles around the gas well. This means you can turn your faucet on in your kitchen and flame will come out. Really, I am not making this up, This is not a Super Bowl commercial. This is what is happening to many of your fellow Americans today. Right now. Their land is being destroyed and their environment. They are sick all the time. Some have horrible brain lesions. All due to Cheney's energy bill.

But remember what Criminal Cheney's energy bill did for Halliburton. It virtually let them off the hook.

So what can be done in this nation of no jobs, no respect for anything but money, and very little, if any, representative democracy? We don't have the police state, rigged elections of Egypt - yet. But who knows, when a major criminal like Dick Cheney is allowed to walk around free, something is wrong. Remember, this is the same clown who lied to millions about invisible atomic weapons in Iraq. And now his policies are bringing death to the heartland.

But it's Super Sunday, so we'll just forget all that. Have another beer. Push the pretzels over here.
