COTUIT, Massachusetts – [HN NOTES] – Barnstable Police surrounded a house in Cotuit after a wanted man led one of their officers on a pursuit. The initial encounter happened shortly after midnight at the Cotuit docks between a patrolman and a 35-year-old man with a warrant out of Falmouth District Court. The warrant was for assault, according to radio transmissions. The officer quickly requested backup and that’s when the call suddenly escalated. The officer announced that he had the suspect at Taser-point. Next he announced that the man was taking off. Then he announced he was in a pursuit after the suspect who was reportedly traveling in the direction of Mashpee on School Street, a thickly settled family neighborhood in the center of Cotuit. As you’ll hear in the following video radio traffic, at the very beginning of the pursuit, speeds reached as high as 55 MPH. The patrolman announced there were multiple traffic violations. The patrolman announced he had one at gun-point after the suspect had pulled into his driveway at 267 School Street. The suspect reportedly ran inside his house as additional police units arrived to assist. As you will hear in the following video, police ordered the man to come out of his house with his hands up numerous times and the suspect kept on refusing. It became a long standoff with a barricaded suspect, at least an hour. At one point in the police audio you can hear a patrolman tell other officers what sounded like there being a large pitbull inside with a snake around its neck? (HN has confirmed with police sources that there was a large snake. But not around the dog’s neck. When the officer first encountered the man at the docks he had a large python around his neck. The large pitbull was also inside the vehicle. At one point the suspect told the officer that if he Tazed him the python around his neck would end up killing him… Also, officers noted that the pitbull was secure in the basement of the home prior to the police K9 making entry. The suspect had put on a leather jacket prior to the entry, which protected him a little when the K9 bit him. He was arrested and booked… and eventually transported to CCH to be treated for what ended up being minor K9 bite injuries, according to police sources… )
HN will provide more official details as soon as they become available.
ON A SIDE NOTE: After doing a little research, this morning’s suspect appears to be the same man who made international headlines for allegedly attacking a 69-year-old Trump supporter in Nov. 2020. According to radio transmissions, his name is Bladen Tisdell.
