WEST YARMOUTH – Police are looking for four individuals, two men and the other two were possibly females, after they ditched their vehicle behind a residence on Camp Street in order to evade police. As you will see and hear in the following HN Video, this late afternoon/ early evening, a Yarmouth Police Detective attempted to pull over a vehicle which was occupied by a man with a warrant. As the vehicle turned south onto Willow Street, the detective announced that the vehicle was not stopping. The pursuit turned onto Camp Street, where speeds reportedly reached 82 MPH. Because of the high speed in a thickly settled area, Yarmouth Police broke off the pursuit and lost sight of the suspect vehicle, which was believed to be traveling south on Camp Street. HN turned north onto Camp Street shortly after officers lost sight of the vehicle. As you will see, HN pulled over for a woman who quickly approached Camp Street, flagging me down. She told me that she believed the suspect vehicle had just driven down her driveway and into her backyard. She had the presence of mind to remove the vehicle’s key after four individuals fled into the woods. Police arrived moments after HN making contact with the woman. Yarmouth Police cruisers quickly set up a perimeter. A couple of state troopers also quickly arrived in the area to assist. A state police helicopter was not unavailable, but they were able to send one of their fixed-winged aircraft to assist from a higher altitude. Despite the quick response and K9 search efforts, all four individuals managed to evade capture for the time being. Police believe they know the identity of the two males. Both males also reportedly had warrants. All potential defendants are presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
