HYANNIS – According to reports filed in Barnstable District Court, this past Tuesday – January, 31, 2023 – members of the Barnstable Police Department were dispatched to the area of Fresh Holes Road after a School Resource Police Sergeant at Barnstable High School reportedly observed and recorded video of what appeared to be a semi-automatic pistol being brandished by an 18-year-old male.
Police investigators reportedly observed Mason Gonsalves recording a video within a vehicle with a tan interior. The report continues, “Gonsalves appeared to be wearing a black hood with writing across the toop. Gonsalves swapped between the front and rear camera of the phone while recording. This showed his face, and that the vehicle he was recording within was parked at an address on Fresh Holes Rd, Hyannis, MA.”
In the video, Police reportedly observed Gonsalves demanding another male to “Come spin,” and “I just showed you where I’m at, Fresh Holes, Fresh Holes.” Gonsalves is reportedly known to be an “associate” with other young adult males in the area that have had past, problematic run-ins with police.
Due to a combination of past firearm offenses, assaults, suspicious persons, and property crimes, the Barnstable Police Department has “overt” surveillance cameras monitoring and recording the area of Fresh Holes Road and Hiramar Road. Officers began focusing on a silver Toyota Highlander believed to have been used in a recent home invasion, approximately one month ago. Officers believe Gonsalves was inside the Highlander when his cell phone was recording. Officers also reportedly observed Gonsalves and other males with problematic pasts exit and return to the vehicle. Based on surveillance, officers reportedly had probable cause that Gonsalves was in possession of the brandished firearm inside of the silver Highlander. The vehicle began to drive away from the residence and a decision was made to conduct a high risk stop for officer safety.
As you will hear in the following HN Video, Lt. Clark and patrol officers of the BPD day shift began staging in the area. A felony stop was conducted on Hiramar Road, and seven occupants were detained without incident. All seven would eventually be transported to police headquarters as the investigation continued.
According to police reports, a black semi-automatic firearm was discovered underneath the driver’s seat. The loaded Rugar LCP .380 semi-automatic pistol reportedly had one round chambered and six rounds in the magazine.
Throughout the vehicle, police reportedly found “numerous” open liquor bottles. There was reportedly an empty bottle of Hennessy, 4 berry lemon flavored nips of Smirnoff, 2 unflavored nip bottles of Smirnoff, 3 nips of Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, a berry lemon 10-pack sleeve of Smirnoff, and 2 bottles of “MARTINELLI’s Apple Juice.” The booze was an issue because allegedly all seven of the individuals detained were under the age of 21-years-old, the legal drinking age. Ethan Hierholcer (the driver), Akeem Campbell, Mason Gonsalves, Daishawn Williams, David McIntyre, Ayshalee Eddy, and Alexia Kerr were all arrested and charged for allegedly being Persons Under the age of 21 in Possession of Liquor.
Ethan Hierholcer was allegedly found to be in possession with of a spring-loaded knife. He was also charged with Carrying a Dangerous Weapon.
Mason Gonsalves, age 18, of Dennisport, in addition to the booze, was charged with Possession of a Firearm without an FID/LTC, Possession of Ammunition without an FID/LTC, and Improper Storage of a Firearm.
At his arraignment, Gonsalves was held pending a Dangerousness Hearing… [DEVELOPING]
