MARSTONS MILLS – As you will hear in the following HN “video,” at around noon today – Tuesday, 8/16/2022 – Barnstable Police officers and local firefighters scrambled toward a crash involving a motorcycle on Route 28, just west of the intersection with Putnam Ave (near the entrance to Stop & Shop). Official details have not yet been released, but there apparently was a collision between a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle in the area of the intersection. It is unknown whether the passenger vehicle remained on scene, and radio transmissions appear to indicate police were looking for what was described as a “suspect” vehicle in relation to the crash. The motorcyclist was critically injured during the crash and was being given CPR by individuals who stopped to help, according to radio transmissions and sources on scene. (Again, no official details have been released at the time of this report.) A Medflight helicopter was requested and then canceled. Radio transmissions indicate the patient was eventually transported to Cape Cod Hospital. Experts from the Barnstable Police Accident Reconstruction Unit immediately arrived on scene and took over the investigation. The following HN “video” contains cell phone images sent in by a reader, and were edited by HN. The video also contains some of the police and fire department radio transmissions.
