HYANNIS — The public is invited to a special viewing as Mercury makes a full transit of the sun Monday.Michael Gyra, director of the David Cole Observatory and Cobb Astro Park at Barnstable High School, will open the observatory at 7:30 a.m. Solar telescopes, binoculars and shades will be provided to safe viewing. The transit is expected to begin at 7:36 a.m., reach midpoint at 10:20 a.m. and move off at 1:04 p.m. The event is not expected to occur again until 2032. [...]
