MASHPEE — A special election to fill John Cahalane’s seat on the Mashpee Board of Selectmen will be held Oct. 1.Cahalane, who served on the board for 20 years, died June 8.Whoever is elected will serve on the board until May 2020, which would have marked the end of Cahalane’s term, according to Mashpee Town Clerk Deborah Dami.Nomination papers are available now, Dami said.
