After six years of soaring opioid-related overdose deaths in Massachusetts, 2017 brought at least some relief, according to recently released data.Last year marked an 8 percent decrease in overdose death rates statewide, compared with 2016, following years of double-digit, year-over-year hikes, the state Department of Public Health said.The overdose death rate per 100,000 residents was 29 in 2017 compared with 31.5 in 2016, according to data posted on the DPH’s website.
