BUZZARDS BAY — Nearly 50 years after it first started, the Cape Cod Scallop Festival will not take place in 2018.There “are lots of different reasons,” said Marie Oliva, executive director of the Cape Cod Canal Regional Chamber of Commerce, which puts on the annual event.The festival, which grew into a three-day affair, including a juried arts-and-crafts show, midway, car show and live entertainment, was a “risky and expensive” chamber fundraiser, Oliva said.
